Timothy Koschmann is a Professor of Medical Education at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. His research focuses on the organization of instruction and the work through which understanding is achieved therein. His research is ethnomethodologically-informed and draws heavily on the methods and findings of Conversation Analysis. Lists of recent publications and presentations are available. Koschmann serves on the editorial boards of Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), Discourse Processes, and the International Journal of Computer Support for Collaborative Learning.
Dr. Koschmann has contributed to the development of the broader field of practice studies through the construction of several substantial corpora and by organizing collaborative analyses of data in a variety of forums.
