Timothy Koschmann is a Professor of Medical Education at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. His research focuses on the usually taken-for-granted practices by which participants in joint activity, routinely and accountably provide instruction to each other. He examines these practices through microanalytic studies of interaction in concrete, practical settings (e.g., small-group learning meetings in medical education, operating rooms in a teaching hospital). Dr. Koschmann currently serves on the editorial boards of Discourse Processes, the Journal of the Learning Sciences, and the International Journal of Computer Support for Collaborative Learning. He was formerly Associate Editor of Interactive Learning Environments and the Journal of the Learning Sciences.
