Timothy Koschmann is an Associate Professor
in the Department of Medical Education at
Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. His
research focuses on the usually taken-for-granted
practices by which participants in joint activity, routinely and accountably
provide instruction to each other.
He examines these practices through microanalytic studies of interaction in
concrete, practical settings (e.g., small-group learning meetings in medical
education, operating rooms in a teaching hospital). Descriptions of

presentations are available.
Dr. Koschmann currently serves on the editorial boards of Discourse Processes, the Journal of the Learning Sciences, the International Journal of Computer Support for Collaborative Learning, and the Journal of Interactive Media in Education. He was formerly Associate Editor of Interactive Learning Environments and the Journal of the Learning Sciences.
